Natural Disasters In Bangladesh
Bangladesh is visited by natural disasters every year. That’s why Bangladesh is called the land of natural calamities. The natural disasters in our country are floods, storms, cyclones, droughts and famine. Due to heavy rainfall flood occurs every year in our country. Flood is the most devastating of all the natural calamities. Flood washes away our homes, crops, cattle and properties. Cyclone blows away our homes, cattle and everything. Storm causes sudden damage to our life and property. Drought causes serious harm to our crops and trees. As a result there is famine. Many people die from hunger. Flood takes a serious turn in the monsoon. Due to heavy rain, the rivers overflow their banks. They don’t get food when they are hungry. The people living by the banks of the river are the worst victims of river erosion. The hungry rivers swallow our shelters, schools and roads make us destitute. The people are helpless in the face of natural disasters. The poor people are the worst sufferers. Due to flood man loses his property, house and all the resources he has. We should try our best to prevent flood by building dams and controlling rivers. We should also build cyclone shelters to save the people.
