Begum Sufia Kamal-A Great Child of Bangladesh
Begum Sufia Kamal, the best poetess, was born at Shayestabad in Barisal on 20th June in 1911. When she was born, the women folk were kept within four walls. They were not allowed to go outside. But Sufia Kamal educated herself through thick and thin without going to any school. It was she who bought the light of education for the captive women folk. She composed stories, poems, verses and what not. Her remarkable works are Etal-Betol, Nao Kishorer Darvarey. She died in 1999.
